Door County
At the end of July, Mimi and Pops came up to Wisconsin for a nice long visit from Wednesday-Tuesday. We got to hit up their favorite spot on Wednesday night, Dotty's Dumplings. This is the burger joint that all of Max's grandparents, aunts, and uncles hung out while they waited for him to be born. Max got to proudly wear his I Heart Hamburgers shirt. During the day Mimi and Pops watched Max while we were at work. They stayed busy, going on bike rides and walks. Max and Oscar really enjoyed having them there. Over the weekend we had a wedding to go to in Door County, WI. Door County is really cool part of the state. It's a peninsula that starts at Green Bay, and juts out into Lake Michigan. There's a road that runs along the coast that stops in all these cool little coastal towns. We drove up on Friday, and Gus and Pops stopped at the Oshkosh Airshow on the way, which they thought was really cool. We stayed in Egg Harbor at a rustic motel called the Lull-A-Bi Inn. It was tight quarters but we were able to laugh about it. We hung around a cool town called Fish Creek on Saturday and had really good pizza at the Wild Tomato. We headed off to the wedding Saturday afternoon while Mimi and Pops took Max and went jetting around the peninsula. It sounds like they had a great time that ended with watching the sunset from a restaurant overlooking the park Egg Harbor. Apparently Max was a hit at dinner and kept Mimi and Pops as well as the other diners entertained. On the way back on Saturday, we stopped off for a tour of Lambeau Field. It was Mimi, Max, and Pop's first time at Lambeau. Max put on his Packers gear and was really active when we got there. He was running around the atrium saying hi to everyone. He looked so tiny in such a large place. The tour was great. They took us through the suites and down on the field. Pops is a big sports fan and it meant a lot for him to be on such hollowed football grounds. We were so happy to have Mimi and Pops for such an eventful visit.
