5 Months!!!!!

5 months, can't believe it. Time has flown, yet we can't remember life without Max.
Life is busy with a little one. We enjoyed the summer, but we're excited that the fall weather has arrived and it's easier to take him outside for longer periods of time without worrying about him getting too hot. We're looking forward to all that fall has to bring; i.e. walks, farmers markets, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, Colts, Packers, Badgers, tailgates, bonfires, chili, pumpkin flavored everything........ Hopefully the fall weather lasts for awhile and old cold winter doesn't come too soon.

In the past month Max has started sleeping in a crib in his own room. It was a pretty smooth transition. We usually put him down between 8-9, he gets fussy around 11-midnight, we feed him and then put him back down, repeat that at around 3:30, and then he wakes up around the same time we get ready for work.

Max is all but rolling over. He's pretty much got it, there's just a little trouble getting that last arm over. He's also getting close to sitting up on his own. He's still such a happy boy.  We really like the day care we take him to. His main teachers are Julie and Lisa. During drop offs and pickups they're always very sweet and informative about Max's day. The reports often say the Max smiled a lot and loved watching the other kids play. It's comforting to know that he's in good hands. Max still has a congestion issue, which has been made worse lately by his first cold. Poor little guy has had a cough, runny nose, and high temps. Even with being sick, most the time you can't even tell because he's still smiling and an overall happy baby through it all.

Holding himself up in his crib.

Fun at the doctor's office.

Trying Sweet Potato baby food for the first time.

Not bad.

When Gus drives Max into work, his favorite thing is when Max looks up from his car seat at him.

Colts or Packers, what's it going to be Max?

Natalie's Baby Shower

On September 24th we had a baby shower for my friend from childhood Natalie Amundson. Her and Jake are expecting a boy on December 17th. We had the shower at Julianne and Sam Burns' house. The house was decorated so cute. Mustaches were the theme. It was a great turnout and we had a blast. We played a really creative game where you had to guess the mustache of famous people throughout history by just the picture of the mustache. Max hung out with all the ladies the whole time. Nat & Jake, you are one of the most caring and kind-hearted couples we know. We are so excited for you to experience this amazing part of your lives. The world will be better off with more Aumies!

Up North

We were invited to our friend's Natalie & Jake's parents cabin in Northern Wisconsin, Lake Nokomis, one weekend. Their place is beautiful and it's right on the lake. It made for a nice relaxing weekend. We were able to get Max out on his first boat ride on the pontoon. We putted around the lake while the little guy slept the whole time. Oscar had a blast running around with their dog, Leo, and was wiped out by the ride home on Sunday.

Natalie & Jake are expecting a boy in December. We are so excited for them to experience the incredible joy.

Max was the centerpiece for breakfast.

Labor Day Weekend

We started the month with a trip down to Indy on Labor Day weekend. On the way down we stopped in Chicago, where we met aunts Sasse and Hattie to take in a Saturday day game at Wrigley between the Cubs and the Giants. Everything worked out great. Kelsey's friend, Emily, lives only a couple of blocks from Wrigley and was gracious enough to watch Max while we went to the game. It was a beautiful day for a game. The Cubs have a good shot at finally winning the World Series this year so it was cool to see part of what could be a historic season. After the game we scooped up Max and headed south. The Steele's still had the pool open so we were able to take Max for his first swim ever. Max didn't cry, but he also wasn't super giddy to be in the pool. He kept a serious face while we carried him around the shallow end. Max's cousins Eli and Maddie loved seeing Max. This is the first time Max has been at a point where he can react to them. They loved making him laugh and holding him. It was a great weekend, good food (we had another low boil!!) and good times.
